Great piece Mike!

From a pure systems perspective, placing an input filter like model armor in front of an LLM agent and a guardrail filter behind it simply creates a serial chain of probabilistic components. Even if we assume an optimistic ninety-eight percent reliability rate for each layer, basic cumulative probability shows the total system assurance dropping through simple multiplication.

Instead of achieving deterministic safety, this setup compounds uncertainty while tripling latency and inference costs. We end up attempting to police a probabilistic engine using the exact same probabilistic mechanics that generated the risk in the first place.

Does multiplying probabilistic odds truly increase security, or does it merely create an illusion of safety while guaranteeing only rising costs?
